The 27th International Congress on Glass (ICG 2025) is a significant event for India, marking nearly four decades since the last ICG congress in the country, which was inaugurated by President Giani Zail Singh in 1986. The congress coincides with the 75th anniversary of the CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI) in Kolkata, making it a perfect host for the event.
The theme for ICG 2025 is “Glass: A Smart and Indispensable Material for Sustainable Society,” focusing on emerging technologies that enhance the use of glass in various sectors. The event will feature keynote addresses, plenary talks, industry presentations, and round table discussions centred on glass’s role in creating a sustainable world. Additionally, a Tutorial Session is planned to benefit young researchers and students in glass science and technology.
A major exposition on glass and allied products will foster idea exchange among global experts. The congress expects around 800 delegates, including over 300 international faculty members and industry executives. The event emphasizes collaboration and support from all stakeholders to ensure its success. The ICG congress, held every three years, promotes knowledge dissemination and research cooperation in glass science and technology.
