The fifth edition of Speciality Food & Drinks Asia (SFDA) 2023 took place in Singapore from September 26 to 28 at Sands Expo & Convention Centre. Formerly known as Speciality & Fine Food Asia (SFFA), SFDA expanded its offerings to include F&B, restaurants, pubs and bars, meat and poultry, and speciality coffee and tea.
Co-located with Food2Go, a takeaway and delivery show, the event featured over 200 regional exhibitors. Montgomery Asia, the organizer, partnered with Big Idea Ventures to host the international finals of the Big Idea Food Competition, focused on alternative protein. SFDA 2023 drew nearly 7,000 attendees from 49 countries.
Highlights included cooking demonstrations, food and drink tasting sessions, and The Tap Room, which showcased a range of brews. The ASEAN Butchery Competition saw Butcher Box Singapore win the top place. The Big Idea Food Competition winner, Vitality Foods, received a grand prize of $200,000 and enrollment in Big Idea Ventures’ accelerator program. The Singapore National Coffee Championship 2023 crowned four champions in various coffee disciplines.
Panel discussions at the Innovation Stage covered challenges and opportunities in the F&B business, including partnerships in food delivery, the ethics of dining reservations, sustainable packaging technologies, and the path toward food security.
Key industry associations present include the Meat Traders’ Association Singapore, the Singapore Coffee Association, the Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, and more.
