Dr. Roberto Tan, APOS President 2022–24, addressed the pivotal moments and accomplishments within the orthodontic community throughout 2023, following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He further elaborated that affiliates rallied despite the hiatus, embracing face-to-face meetings and events, catalyzed by the successful 13th Asian Pacific Orthodontic Congress (APOC), hosted by the Korean Association of Orthodontists (KAO) in Seoul.
This event served as a beacon of hope, inspiring affiliates to return to normalcy, fostering connections, and celebrating milestones like World Orthodontic Health Day. The narrative highlights the palpable desire for human interaction witnessed during these gatherings, underscoring the irreplaceable value of in-person connections. Additionally, the president emphasized the active engagement of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS) in global orthodontic initiatives, such as the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) Presidential Meeting.
The dedication of office bearers and committee members is commended, setting the stage for the highly anticipated 14th APOC hosted by the Taiwan Association of Orthodontists (TAO) in Taipei in December 2024.
The APOS expressed confidence in the event’s success, inviting support and participation from members
