A groundbreaking conference focused on climate-friendly technologies to enhance the sustainability of business events is set to take place in Barcelona, Spain, alongside the PCMA Convening EMEA 2024 event from September 30 to October 2.
This initiative, conceived by the Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe (SANCBE),
will aim to develop new business models for conferences and reduce the environmental footprint of such gatherings.
The conference will invite various industries and sectors, including aviation, to share their expertise. While the event’s specific format is yet to be determined, it is likely to depart from traditional keynote speakers and focus more on peer-to-peer problem-solving and knowledge sharing.
Sherrif Karamat, PCMA’s president and CEO, emphasized the importance of business events as platforms for addressing complex issues and facilitating knowledge transfer and networking.
SANCBE co-chairs Matthias Schultze and Eric Bakermans underscored the global nature of sustainability and digital transformation challenges, which can only be addressed through collaboration, common goals, and a shared vision. SANCBE represents 29 European countries working together to find solutions for these transformations. Karamat expressed PCMA’s enthusiasm to work with SANCBE to create a more sustainable future for business events through technological solutions and strategic knowledge.
