The Cairns Convention Centre is leveraging its recent $176 million expansion to offer virtual reality (VR) flythrough tours of its upgraded facilities at IMEX Las Vegas. This expansion, funded by the Queensland Government, has propelled the Centre to the forefront of international and domestic conferences and events. Nestled in tropical North Queensland, the venue showcases the region’s natural beauty and eco-tourism charm.
Led by ASM Global (Asia Pacific) and designed by Cox Architecture, the expansion has added 10,500 square meters of meeting, banquet, and exhibition space. The upgraded facilities encompass an expansive exhibition area, a 450-seat lecture space, versatile meeting rooms, a 500-capacity banquet area, an outdoor terrace, and a spacious pre-event function lobby. Notably, the Trinity Room and Terrace level provide stunning views of Trinity Inlet.
Janet Hamilton, General Manager of Cairns Convention Centre, expressed the desire to showcase the venue through interactive virtual tours, enabling event professionals and planners to explore its contemporary design and integration of Cairns’ lush tropical rainforest. These virtual tours were made possible with support from Tourism Australia’s Business Events Advance Program, aimed at promoting Australian business events globally.
Hamilton expressed gratitude for this support and looked forward to bringing more events and delegates to Cairns. Visitors to IMEX Las Vegas are encouraged to experience the virtual tour and discover how the venue is redefining event hosting in a captivating destination.
