Lviv’s IT Arena, celebrating its 10th anniversary, exemplifies adaptability in the face of challenges, evolving during the pandemic and war to become a global showcase for successful event resilience. The event, which began in 2014 with 800 attendees, grew steadily, reaching 5,345 attendees in its hybrid format in 2021. Despite war-related challenges in 2022, it moved to unique venues, scaled down to 1,000 attendees, and featured discussions on military tech advancements.
In 2023, the event hosted 3,364 onsite attendees from 30 countries, with 836 participants from 22 countries and 30 foreign speakers. Special categories included defense start-up competitions, and the event featured AI hosts, future glimpses, and performances. Attendees split across 15 venues, felt safe due to venues serving as bomb shelters, ensuring security, and offering a unique, walkable experience in Lviv.
The event showcased Ukraine’s active IT community and fostered networking, partnerships, and potential cooperation, contributing to its IT sector growth despite ongoing challenges. Lviv’s IT Cluster, uniting 270 companies and startups with over 90,000 specialists, has seen the city’s IT industry turnover increase from $280 million in 2015 to $895 million in 2020. Ukrainian IT exports in 2022 amounted to approximately $7.3 billion. The IT Arena Conference remains a crucial platform, recognized as one of the best networking events in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, emphasizing dynamism and flexibility.
