The second edition of the ET HospitalityWorld F&B Summit 2023 featured a panel discussion on the future of India’s hospitality industry, with a focus on the role of technology. Panelists discussed various aspects of the industry’s evolution:

Rahul Handa, Executive Vice President – Strategic Initiatives at ONDC, highlighted the importance of technology for streamlining customer journeys and enabling flexibility. ONDC has expanded its services beyond food delivery to cover electronics, fashion, and footwear.

Riyaaz Amlani, Founder & MD of Impresario Ent. & Hos. Pvt. Ltd, discussed the evolution of cafes and the shift towards comfort, community, and conversation as key elements of the dining experience. Cafes are becoming daily gathering spots rather than just venues for special occasions.

Anjan Chatterjee, Founder & CMD of Speciality Restaurants Ltd, highlighted the disruptive nature of the food industry, with entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds entering the market. He emphasized the promising future of food innovation and investment opportunities in the sector.

Kallol Banerjee, Co-founder of Rebel Foods, emphasized the importance of economic efficiency and personalized solutions in the restaurant industry. He discussed the integration of customer engagement data to provide personalized dining experiences.

Vikram Bakshi, CEO & MD of Ascot Hospitality, predicted that the future of cuisine would involve the fusion of global flavours, creating unique and exciting dishes. This trend has gained traction overseas, leading to pop-up events and chef’s table experiences.

The panellists collectively expressed optimism about the future of India’s hospitality and food industry, with technology playing a pivotal role in shaping the dining experience and business operations.
