The Events Industry Council (EIC) has launched a year-long Futures Study to explore emerging trends and issues shaping the business events industry. Announced on March 25, 2024, after the EIC Board and Leadership Council Meeting in Toronto, this ambitious project involves collaboration among global industry leaders and will culminate in the Futures Landscape Report, due in Q4 2024.
It is led by Gaining Edge, a consultancy specializing in the business events sector. The study brings together delegates from EIC’s 55+ Association and Corporate Members. The initiative aims to prepare the industry for future disruptions by examining a wide range of topics, including political, economic, technological, safety, security, and environmental factors.
EIC President and CEO Amy Calvert emphasized the importance of this collaborative effort in supporting the global workforce, recognizing the industry’s need to be equipped for future challenges. EIC Board Chair Ana María Viscasillas highlighted the industry’s resilience and the proactive engagement required to create future opportunities.
The study is supported by EIC’s APEX Critical Issues Working Group, chaired by Mike Dominguez, and involves leaders from all key sectors of the industry. This initiative underscores EIC’s commitment to guiding the industry through forthcoming changes and ensuring its continued success.
