BestCities Global Alliance and the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) have announced exciting changes to their Incredible Impacts Program, which recognizes the value and impact of international association meetings. The program, which showcases meetings that go beyond tourism and leave a lasting legacy, will now award one association with a grant of $20,000 (USD), replacing the previous three grants of $7,500 (USD).
The selection process has also been revamped, with a jury shortlisting three finalists who will present their entries during a plenary session at the annual ICCA Congress in November. Attendees at the Congress will have the opportunity to vote for the winner, with the final score determined by both the jury and the audience.
Lesley Williams, Managing Director of BestCities, expressed enthusiasm for the program’s evolution, recognizing associations that demonstrate innovative thinking and inspiring others to incorporate legacy initiatives into their events. Senthil Gopinath, CEO of ICCA, emphasized the growing interest in the initiative and the decision to elevate the stakes, allowing the “best of the best” to shine. By involving Congress attendees in the final judging process, the Incredible Impacts Program aims to increase the impact value and celebrate the remarkable stories and legacies created by associations.
