The Meet Global MICE Congress, held in Moscow from October 6–8, brought together over 300 delegates from 14 countries, including India, China, and nations from the Middle East and South-East Asia. The event served as a crucial platform for communication among MICE industry professionals, featuring business seminars, talks, debates, and B2B negotiations.
Discussions centered on the essential aspects cities should emphasize to attract business tourists, the specific preferences of this traveller segment, and the industry’s growth potential. Moscow, with a robust infrastructure for congresses and exhibitions, is actively implementing initiatives to enhance its appeal to tourists. The city boasts more than 1,900 hotels, 18,500 cafes and restaurants, and over 30 locations capable of hosting large conferences, exhibitions, and corporate events for more than 40,000 people.
Evgeny Kozlov, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, highlighted Moscow’s status as a booming business center, witnessing a 10% increase in business tourists in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year. Moscow’s hospitality development was praised by industry representatives, with positive remarks on the city’s enhanced level of hospitality. In August, Russia introduced e-visas valid for 60 days for citizens of 55 countries, including India, with over 30,000 travellers utilizing the service in the first month.
