Jamaica Aims to Attract Half a Million Canadian Tourists by 2025

by Events_India

Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, has set an ambitious goal to welcome half a million Canadian tourists to the country by 2025. He expressed confidence in achieving this target and emphasized the importance of introducing a new campaign to increase air traffic from Canada. Bartlett mentioned plans to engage with airlines like WestJet, Air Canada, and Canada Jetlines, as well as other partners, to strengthen airlift from Canada.

Jamaica’s overall tourism target for 2025 is to welcome five million visitors and generate five billion dollars in tourism revenue. Canada currently stands as the country’s third-largest market, with over 300,000 visitors, approaching the level seen in 2010 when they received 400,000 Canadian visitors.

Bartlett’s projections are based on data suggesting that the Canadian market is poised to reach the half-million visitor mark in the next two years. Additionally, he emphasized the growth in Canadian vacationers as a means to attract Asian visitors, indicating the country’s commitment to expanding its tourism industry.
