Prague hosted the 27th World Road Congress, an esteemed global event gathering road transport experts. The event took place at the Prague Congress Centre from October 2 to 6. Martin Kupka, Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic, revealed that Prague secured the congress with a resounding 122 points, surpassing cities like Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, which came in second place with half the points.
This prestigious event welcomed over 4,000 road transport professionals from 96 countries, featuring 30 national pavilions, a substantial increase from the previous edition in 2019. While the event was held in person, lectures and discussions will be available through streaming platforms.
Prague’s appeal as a host city is evident, as events held in Prague tend to attract up to 15% more delegates compared to other destinations. This congress offered a unique opportunity for the local professional community to access the latest knowledge and gain invaluable insights into road transport.
The main topics of this year’s summit revolved around mobility and infrastructure, with a focus on emerging areas such as electromobility, autonomous vehicles, and the industry’s transition towards carbon neutrality.
The congress aimed to engage the general public, with events like car crash simulations, demonstrations of autonomous buses, and scooter rides on various surfaces. Additionally, the program included tours of Prague and other notable places in the Czech and Slovak Republics, making it an enriching experience for both attendees and the public.
