Salt Lake City has been selected to host the International Inbound Travel Association (IITA) Summit in 2025, scheduled for February 9-12. The city was chosen over six other competing destinations, with a successful bid presented by the Salt Lake City Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The Utah Office of Tourism has also expressed support for the event.
The IITA Summit is a significant gathering that brings together hundreds of travel organizations to facilitate business and create itineraries and travel services for international travellers visiting the United States from around the world. With the USA’s international visitation still recovering from the pandemic, it has historically contributed over $235 billion in travel spending from nearly 80 million visitors, making international inbound travel a crucial component of the U.S. economy.
Lisa Simon, CEO/Executive Director of IITA, highlighted Salt Lake City’s appeal to international visitors, particularly outdoor enthusiasts, and the natural beauty of Utah with its national parks. The event offers an opportunity for leading U.S. inbound operators to experience all that the city and state have to offer.
The Utah Office of Tourism and Visit Salt Lake is committed to revitalizing international visitation and is preparing the city for the return of international travellers. They have brought IITA’s training program, Inbound Insider Steps to Success, to Salt Lake City to enhance the destination’s readiness.
Kaitlin Eskelson, President & CEO of Visit Salt Lake, expressed the city’s enthusiasm for hosting the event, showcasing the destination to tour operators specializing in international markets and industry guests. Salt Lake City is seeing increased activity with new hotels and restaurants, making it an attractive host for the IITA Summit.
