Singapore has followed Malaysia in declining to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, raising concerns about the future of the event. This follows Victoria’s withdrawal last year due to escalating costs, leaving the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) scrambling for a new venue.
Despite a £100 million incentive, Malaysia turned down the opportunity over cost concerns. Singapore, after reviewing the feasibility, also decided not to bid for the event, without providing further details.
The CGF remained optimistic, highlighting the Games’ focus on inclusivity, featuring both able-bodied and para-sports, as a key attraction for future hosts. Further, Glasgow announced it will be hosting 2026 Commonwealth Games.oing.
