The Singapore MICE Forum (SMF) returned on July 27, 2023, with a vibrant event themed “The Great Reset,” held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The 3-day forum was organized by the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS) and attracted over 400 stakeholders from Singapore, the region, and global markets.
Key themes discussed during the event included sustainability, talent, innovation, and new business models. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry & Culture, Community, and Youth, highlighted the essential role of MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) in driving Singapore’s economic growth and emphasized the importance of industry collaborations for a sustainable future.
SACEOS, along with the Singapore Standards Council (SSC), overseen by Enterprise Singapore, launched the WA 4 Sustainable MICE to provide guidelines for carbon emissions management and support Singapore’s MICE Sustainability Roadmap and Singapore Green Plan 2030. The standard positions Singapore as a leading sustainable MICE destination in the Asia Pacific by advocating waste reduction and carbon management at events.
SACEOS and NTUC LearningHub will collaboratively introduce sustainability-related courses to upskill and reskill professionals in the MICE and events industry and revamp the MICE Sustainability Certification, providing industry professionals with a recognized credential pathway.
It offered an opportunity for industry players to reimagine a future that prioritizes environmental care and delivers value to attendees. The launch of WA 4 Sustainable MICE and the partnership with NTUC LearningHub unveil Singapore’s aim to lead the way in sustainable practices within the MICE industry.
