Centara Hotels & Resorts has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SCG Cleanergy Company Limited, a solar energy solutions provider, to advance its Smart Hotel concept.
The collaboration aims to integrate sustainable and clean electrical technology across Centara’s hotels and resorts. As part of the partnership, Centara and SCG Cleanergy will explore solar energy usage and implement a smart electrical network. The initiative aligns with Centara’s long-term sustainability goals, including a 20% re
duction in waste and greenhouse gas emissions over the next decade.
The Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld will serve as the pilot venue, using SCG Cleanergy’s renewable energy as the primary electricity source. The installation of rooftop solar panels capable of generating 861.35 kilowatts is expected to reduce over 540 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. This effort is part of Centara’s 10-year sustainability plan, targeting significant reductions in energy consumption, water usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and landfill waste by 2029.
