The MEET TAIWAN Festival, held in September 2023, showcased Taiwan as a premier destination for business events. Organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the festival focused on interactive engagement, knowledge sharing, international appeal, and forward-looking perspectives. These components underscore Taiwan’s commitment to attracting global business events, fostering industry interactions, sharing knowledge, and promoting the local MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry abroad.
The festival featured the debut of MEET TAIWAN’s mascot, PaQ, symbolizing Taiwan’s dedication to inclusivity and engagement. PaQ’s sustainable MICE fund contributions were tallied each time the mascot was embraced by attendees, highlighting Taiwan’s commitment to sustainability.
An innovative collaboration with Vocal Asia resulted in the creation of a cappella masterpiece titled “MEET TAIWAN Open Arms,” making Taiwan the world’s first convention bureau with its theme song. The festival emphasized the importance of fostering business and knowledge exchange, with the Asian MICE Forum providing a platform for collaboration and shared experiences.
The MEET Taiwan Business Exchange facilitated over 100 one-on-one business meetings, promoting meeting design and strengthening participant connections. The exchange also showcased Tainan, Taiwan’s oldest capital, immersing delegates in the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Sustainability was a central theme, with the GREENTOPIA: A Sustainable MICE City competition soliciting innovative proposals. One Smile Foundation, a winner of the competition, brought their “smile detector” technology to Taiwan, translating smiles into tangible donations for senior and child welfare organizations.
The success of the Open Arms campaign is set to continue into 2024, offering support for business event organizers to explore Taiwan’s distinctive cities and create memorable experiences.
