The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is supporting the cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in becoming international MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) hubs for tea and coffee events. TCEB has planned three projects to promote the MICE industry in Northern Thailand.
The project will develop these cities as global-scale centers for tea and coffee, considering their suitable geographical location and abundant natural resources.
The First project involves scaling up the creative economy and local community product initiatives by supporting events like the World Tea and Coffee Expo in Chiang Mai. The second project involves developing the unique selling points of MICE cities and other northern cities. The third project will integrate business travel promotion with creative MICE initiatives. It will also involve local communities in creating new MICE routes and products.
Under this project, a key event, “Conference of Thailand Tea and Coffee Network 2023,” will take place in Chiang Rai. The conference aims to upgrade the tea and coffee industry in the region and highlight the city’s identity to attract MICE events.
TCEB is also organizing a familiarization trip for press members to experience the tea and coffee routes in Chiang Rai and raise public awareness of the region’s potential in the tea and coffee industry. Their ultimate goal is to make the upper north of Thailand a global tea and coffee MICE destination.
