The Business of Events announced its distinguished lineup of speakers and contributors for its UK Policy Forum, scheduled for November 8th at IET London at Savoy Place. The event, a part of International Trade Week organized by the Department for Business & Trade, aims to foster collaboration and communication between the events industry and the UK government, as well as to shape a Policy Agenda. Notable participants include:
- Nicholas Watt – BBC Newsnight Political Editor with over 30 years of journalism experience. He’s recognized for his coverage of UK and EU politics, particularly during the tumultuous period of Brexit and the tenure of five prime ministers.
- Theresa Villiers, MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events, will provide insights from Westminster’s perspective.
- Martin Green CBE – An event producer renowned for his work on major cultural events like the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies, Hull UK City of Culture 2017, and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
- Michael Gietzen – CEO of Identity, a company that has managed high-profile events, including COP26 and COP28, the G7 Summit in 2021, and the London New Year’s Eve fireworks display. He will discuss the UK’s role in exporting creativity and the soft power potential of major events.
- Shonali Devereaux – The moderator, with 25 years of experience in the events industry, specializing in coaching and mentoring in confidence and public speaking. She co-founded the Diverse Speaker Bureau to amplify diverse voices in debates.
The forum is officially part of International Trade Week, and discussions will cover topics like the value of tradeshows, creativity export, soft power through events, and the role of ambassador programs.
