The Indian Yoga Association (IYA) serves as a self-regulatory body for yoga organizations, promoting the advancement and application of yoga. Chaired by Pujya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar with Maa Dr Hansaji Yogendra as President, IYA was founded under the guidance of the legendary Yogi Padma Vibhushan Late Dr. BKS Iyengar. IYA prescribes educational and training courses, syllabi, and research guidelines, aiming to certify yoga professionals and schools.
The association also facilitates the preparation of educational materials and exercises, which are created by committee members and instructors. These materials highlight diverse approaches to promoting student competency in specific writing areas, focusing on less emphasized domains such as sensory perception, emotional monologues, and informative messages. Many exercises are derived from reading and language experiences.
