The Thailand division of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP), one of the organization’s oldest national divisions, was established in 1959 through the efforts of Drs. Pradit Tansurat and Paul D. Rosahn. The division’s mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of pathology. To achieve this, the IAP organizes educational programs, including lectures, seminars, and international exchange opportunities for young pathologists.
The IAP’s broader mission is to advance pathology globally through educational exchanges. To this end, the academy coordinates activities across its divisions, promotes the creation of new divisions, and convenes an international congress every two years to advance pathology education, research, and practice. The IAP provides high-quality educational resources, including lectures, seminars, and teaching materials, accessible through its divisions, and strategically places international congresses to improve access to pathology education in underserved areas.
The IAP’s objectives include enhancing pathology teaching methods in medical schools and hospitals, coordinating anatomic pathology with allied sciences, promoting research in pathology, forming national or regional divisions, and publishing journals and reports to disseminate scientific knowledge. The organization also convenes meetings and congresses to facilitate the exchange of scientific information and ideas.
