The India International Convention & Expo Centre (IICC) Phase 1, in Delhi, valued at Rs. 5,400 crores, has been inaugurated as one of the world’s largest MICE facilities. Spanning 10.7 lakh square meters, it features a massive 9,000 square meter LED screen and India’s largest media facade for live event broadcasts.
The convention centre within IICC, Yashobhoomi, offers 15 convention rooms, an auditorium with Canadian technology for automated seating conversions, and 13 meeting rooms across eight floors. The Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 2,500 guests, with an open area for an additional 500 people.
The government, satisfied with the venue’s popularity, selected Kinexin Convention Management Private Limited, a Korean company, through a global bid for facility operation. Kinexin has secured over 100 bookings for exhibitions and conferences. The facility aims to bolster India’s position in the global MICE market and attract more events to Delhi NCR.
Phil Chung, CEO of Kinexin Convention Management, said that as small and medium size events are also coming on an ad-hoc basis, Indian cities can make several Singapores by developing their potential to host MICE events.
