Christina Ghani-Smith, the Director of Sports Sales at Visit Baltimore, promotes Baltimore as the ideal destination for sports-related meetings and events.
Renowned athletes like Michael Phelps and successful teams like the Baltimore Ravens contribute to the city’s rich sporting legacy. Within five years, sports-related meetings and events have more than doubled, accounting for 34% of the city’s gatherings in 2022, up from 15% in 2017.
Baltimore houses iconic sporting venues, such as Oriole Park at Camden Yards and the CFG Bank Arena, which was recently renovated to add more allure. The M&T Bank Stadium, 35 feet above Oriole Park, was the first stadium in the US to receive LEED Gold certification.
The city is looking forward to hosting the AAU Junior Olympics in 2028 and 2032, reflecting its commitment to embracing emerging sporting categories, including the rising interest in e-sports.
