The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will host 20 conventions in 2024, with an anticipated economic contribution of approximately RM75 million. These events are expected to attract more than 32,000 delegates from around the world and highlight Kuala Lumpur’s growing popularity as an international hub for business and knowledge exchange.
John Burke, the Centre’s General Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the continued growth in association meetings and conventions, noting the Centre’s successful track record. In 2023, they have already hosted 18 conventions, with 12 more confirmed for the year’s end. This success underscores the Centre’s commitment to excellence and its appeal to event planners.
Kuala Lumpur’s ICCA ranking as the 6th top city in the Asia Pacific region reflects its affordability, English proficiency, vibrant local culture, and professional business events ecosystem. The Centre has also secured bids to host four international conferences between 2024 and 2030, with 5,000 expected delegates and RM18 million estimated economic impact.
The upcoming conventions in 2024 include prestigious gatherings such as the International Surgical Week 2024, the 21st International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA) World Congress 2024, the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) meets Asia 2024, and more.
These events will benefit from the Centre’s prime location in the integrated Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) precinct, surrounded by a lush park, various accommodation options, and a breathtaking view of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Dr. Khairul Anuar Mohd Salleh, Chairman of the 18th Asia Pacific Conference for Non-Destructive Testing (APCNDT) 2029, confirmed the Centre’s comprehensive facilities and adaptable solutions for exceptional delegate experience.
