While details about ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tickets are yet to be released, cricket fans are wasting no time securing their stay in the host cities. Hotel room rates in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad have surged more than 10-fold during match days, particularly on October 15, ahead of the highly-anticipated India-Pakistan clash.
Room rentals have reached around $1,220, and hotels like ITC Narmada, Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt, and Taj Skyline Ahmedabad are already sold out for that day.
A Google search reveals that flights from Delhi to Ahmedabad on October 14 are priced between Rs 8,000 ($98) and Rs 10,000 ($122), almost double the regular rates.
As cricket fever grips the nation, online travel agencies (OTAs) are scrambling to offer affordable stays for the anticipated million or more cricket fans attending the tournament. Budget hotel aggregator Oyo plans to add 500 new hotels near the stadiums, while EaseMyTrip and MakeMyTrip are promoting economical homestays to cater to the demand.
Yatra is also witnessing an upswing in booking queries and searches for the host cities and is offering attractive discounts for cricket enthusiasts. As hotels navigate this unprecedented surge in demand, they aim to strike a balance between World Cup visitors and regular guests.
