The UP Minister of State, Ravindra Jaiswal, highlighted the potential for India’s tourism growth at the ‘Uttar Pradesh Darshan’ conference organized by ASSOCHAM and myATITHI Global. The global tourist share is expected to increase from 2% to 18%.
He emphasized India’s vast cultural, historical, spiritual, and religious assets. Despite having a population of 1.25 billion, India’s global tourism share lags behind smaller countries like Singapore and Dubai.
He praised the Prime Minister’s initiatives such as ‘Vocal for Local,’ which boosted India’s economy and global ranking. He called on young entrepreneurs in the hospitality and tourism sectors to drive this growth.
Jaiswal also suggested leveraging festivals through “festival tourism” to attract tourists nationally and state-specifically, while also integrating advanced technologies to enhance India’s global tourism standing. Moreover, he also discussed plans to reduce stamp duty on ancestral properties to minimize family property disputes.
