IBTM World has unveiled details of its revamped Association Leaders’ Forum, which will occur on the first day of the event, November 28th, 2023, at Fira Barcelona. The forum will emphasize the role of the association’s community in the ongoing discourse about sustainability and its challenges, in collaboration with the esteemed European Society of Association Executives (ESAE).
The program will feature high-level presentations, lightning talks, and interactive debates to foster a sense of community lost due to remote work shifts.
The event will kick off with Mike Morrissey, ESAE President, exploring 2024 association trends and progress into a speaker-moderated debate by Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary General of UITP. The debate will focus on travel and sustainability, exploring topics like carbon offsetting’s merit and the broader societal impacts of meetings and conferences.
A panel discussion featuring notable association leaders will delve into how associations can drive positive change. The conversation will touch on integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into decision-making, along with subjects like diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), sustainability, and corporate responsibility. Rapid-fire lightning talks covering artificial intelligence, ESG, and impact versus environment will be covered in the afternoon.
David Thompson, Event Director at IBTM World, expressed that the forum aims to kindle curiosity, encourage positive change, and create a nurturing environment for culture to flourish.
